| My question involves criminal law for the state of: California I was arrested on May 3, 2008 upon leaving my vehicle at an address and attempting to walk home. I had just driven my car into a parked van and attempted to hide the vehicle 1 mile from the scene of the crime. My BAC was .08 at the county jail. I'm 16 years old, and this was my first DUI. The official charges are DUI and Hit and Run. I was told to contact probation services in 5 days and the DMV for a hearing within 10. My license is temporarily suspended. Do i have any shot at reinstating my driving privilege? I need people with specific knowledge to reply because I know all the general information. I need to know how this will all play out. I am a nervous wreck. I can't eat or sleep. I learned a lesson the hard way and now I need to know how hard the way really is. I'm obviously not just referring to my license, which is probably the least of my worries. (Fines, Juvenile Incarceration, Probation, Community Service) |

| Your age is going to help you a lot here! Check with the California DUI laws for specifics. I will just throw my 10 cents at you. You screwed up. We all do. It's safe to say that you learned your lesson, and this will be your first and only DUI charge. Right? Right! You may be able to get a provisional drivers license in California to drive to and from work and school. Maybe. the most likely scenario is that you will lose your driver's license until you are an adult (18). I doubt that you will see any jail time, because of your age and this being your first DWI charge. You will probably be looking at community service and probation for 2 years. That's my best guess. Good luck!!
